Last updated: November 7, 2026. This document explains the licensing framework governing ZeeTheme WordPress themes, Gutenberg blocks, and Kinetiq cloud synchronization services.
1. GNU General Public License Heritage
ZeeTheme respects and embraces the WordPress ecosystem open-source philosophy. All PHP code within our downloadable WordPress themes, block plugins, and template engines is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPLv2 or later). You are free to inspect, modify, and adapt the underlying PHP code according to the terms of the GPL.
2. Split Licensing Architecture
Our platform operates under a clear split licensing model:
- WordPress PHP Code: Released under GNU GPLv2+, ensuring full compatibility with the WordPress core license.
- Hosted Cloud Infrastructure: The Kinetiq cloud synchronization network, brand token vault APIs, and centralized asset delivery endpoints are proprietary commercial services governed by our Terms of Service.
- Design Assets and Brand Material: Official logos, wordmarks, documentation copy, and curated starter patterns remain the intellectual property of ZeeTheme.
3. Commercial License Keys
Purchasing a commercial subscription provisions a license key for your organization. License keys enable:
- Automated one-click software updates directly within WordPress.
- Real-time bidirectional synchronization with Kinetiq cloud vaults.
- Direct technical support from our engineering desk.
- Access to premium agency block patterns and design systems.
License keys are associated with specific site activations matching your purchased plan quota.
4. Agency and Client Distribution Freedom
Agencies and freelancers holding an active commercial license may deploy ZeeTheme products on client installations up to the site allocation authorized by their tier. Once a website is created and handed off to a client, existing compiled Gutenberg markup and styles continue to render permanently on their server, even if the parent agency subscription expires.
5. Software Independence Guarantee
Cancelling an active subscription never invalidates client websites, locks WordPress administrative screens, or deletes local theme files. Only remote cloud sync and automated update channels are suspended upon expiration.
